In the weeks surrounding the celebration of the 25th Jubilee Anniversary of Bienvenu Shelter held on 22 April 2026, we had the joy of welcoming once again our dearest friends from the Netherlands, the Heutink family, whose support and closeness to the mission of the Shelter have accompanied us endearingly throughout many years.
This visit was especially meaningful because, for the first time, they were accompanied by their grandson to celebrate this important milestone with us. We were also happy to welcome their daughter, son in law and two sons.
The family arrived in Johannesburg a few days before the Jubilee celebrations and spent one week sharing moments of everyday life with the Shelter, participating in activities, visiting the different projects, spending time with the women and children, and experiencing closely the reality of the mission.
Their presence during the Jubilee celebrations carried a very special meaning for all of us. Over the years, the Heutink family has supported Bienvenu Shelter in many different ways, always remaining close not only through material support, but also through genuine care and human connection. Their continued commitment has become part of the history of the Shelter itself.
The Jubilee celebrations also became a moment to recognise the many relationships and acts of solidarity that have helped sustain this mission throughout the years.
We are deeply grateful to Heutink family for their visit, their generosity and their constant closeness to the women and children and entire team of Bienvenu Shelter.
