Over the past weeks, Bienvenu Shelter had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from two long-standing partners of the mission: the Missionary Development Officer (MDO) from Misean Cara, the Desk Officer for Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe from MISEREOR and Caixa Bank – “la Caixa” Fundation.
These monitoring and project visits offered an important opportunity to share the daily reality of the Shelter, present the activities and programmes currently being implemented, and reflect together on both the achievements and the ongoing challenges faced by migrant and refugee women and children in Johannesburg.
During the visits, the representatives met with staff members, beneficiaries, teachers, social workers and other stakeholders, gaining deeper insight into the work carried out at the Shelter and at the Mother Assunta Training Centre. Discussions focused on protection, education, empowerment, skills development, and the importance of creating safe and dignified spaces for vulnerable women and children.
We were especially grateful for the time dedicated to listening to the stories, experiences and perspectives of our community. These moments of dialogue and exchange are deeply meaningful and continue to strengthen the spirit of collaboration that sustains our work.
We sincerely thank both Misean Cara and MISEREOR for their continued support and commitment to walking alongside migrant and refugee communities with solidarity and compassion.
