“I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matt 25:35)

Season of outdoor fun!

On October 12, 2023 Bienvenu Shelter and the Pastoral Care for Migrants & Refugees Department, Archdiocese of Johannesburg, had organized a picnic for all the staffs in Saint John Baptist Scalabrini parish, Midrand. We were extremely excited to reach the destination and kept singing songs till we reached the venue.

All of us were warm welcomed! We were all introduced to the new place by describing the history of the church, which is the first Saint Scalabrini Parish in South Africa. The church is growing gradually with the providence of God and the generosity of the parishioners. Our life and our mission are well connected with Saint Scalabrini therefore, it was a small spiritual pilgrimage for all of us and we all made a prayer to St. Scalabrini for each one of us, for our dear donors and friends, and for all the migrants and refugees.

The group had gathered to prepare braai while others entertained the group with music, dance and good chat connecting together as a team. After the rich food we all gathered to thank God for this opportunity to integrate one another. On behalf of the group, the Director expressed the gratitude to the parish priest and the staff who welcomed us, for giving us this beautiful and peaceful venue. We said bye with the promise of visiting again.

Everyone had a big smile on their faces indicating we had had a great fun. We are already looking forward to the next one.
