On the 22nd of April 2025, Bienvenu Shelter held the first graduation of 2025 in the courses of Baking, Sewing, Beauty – Nails and Make-up which took place in the Heutink hall of the Mother Assunta Training Centre. This year, we started our courses with a high number of students, 54 in all who completed their courses and graduated.
We had the blessing of receiving the visit of the Heutink Family, who’s help and donations made the Training Centre a reality. Attended by the Management and staff team, we also had a visitor from the Focolare Movement and many students’ friends and family members, proudly participating in the celebrations and achievements.
Every student also received a start up kit, according to their class: a fundamental to help them start their business. Every student was excited to receive a valid proof of their hard work and accomplishments over the months.
Before closing the event, a student from each course stood and spoke out: all of them shared gratitude for the teachers and everyone involved in their learning, reminding each other to celebrate this day of personal success and, at the same time, remembering that this is only the beginning. Every course and every skill the teachers taught them are a new strength and a starting point to do more in life, to be able to say “I can do this”, as an emotional and historical student shared; a new tool of self-sustainability for themselves.
We also had the pleasure of meeting again a former student that attended basic sewing before covid hit: she shared how coming to the Mother Assunta Training Centre changed the lives and opened new possibilities to many former students like herself, encouraging the graduates to fully grab this opportunity and make it even bigger.
We look forward to another start of courses with students eager to learn, have another social network of support and gain skills to be self-sustainable.
