On Friday 10 October 2025 marked a day of new beginnings as migrant and refugee women graduated from the Mother Assunta Training Centre’s baking course, with each graduate receiving a starter kit to immediately start their entrepreneurial journeys.
The graduation celebrated the dedication of nine women who successfully completed the programme which focussing on learning baking techniques, and also business orientation.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the starter kits, an initiative designed to support on their struggles to starting a home-based bakery.
The graduates, expressed their gratitude. “This kit is more than just tools; it’s a vote of confidence,” she said. “Before, the thought of buying all the equipment was overwhelming. Now, with the skills we’ve learned and this kit in hand, I can start baking for my family today. I am finally able to turn my passion into a sustainable income for my family.”
