“I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matt 25:35)

A special visit from Weltkirche, Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart

Last week we were delighted to welcome a very special visit from Weltkirche: Mr. Klaus Kauss, a long-time supporter and dear friend from Germany who has been walking the journey alongside us from the beginning.

On Monday morning, Klaus joined us at the Shelter, where we had the pleasure of showing him around the premises and presenting all renovations and improvements since his last visit that have been carried out over the past months. It was a special moment for all of us to share the progress that has been made and to see how happy he was to witness the positive developments at Bienvenu.

During his visit, Klaus spent time in the Baby Room and at the Crèche, where he received a very warm welcome from the children. The little ones greeted him with great enthusiasm and sang several songs together, filling the room with much laughter and joy. It was a truly beautiful moment. Some lovely photos were taken to capture the memories of the day, and Klaus also shared sweets and even taught them a rhyme in German.

Klaus also took time to meet and speak with the volunteers currently serving at the Shelter. Having previously worked in the coordination of volunteers for humanitarian projects, he showed great interest in learning about their experiences and the motivations that brought them to support the work of Bienvenu Shelter.

On Tuesday, Klaus continued his visit by spending time at the Training Centre, where he had the opportunity to learn more about the programmes offered to support the empowerment and skills development of migrant and refugee women. He was very impressed by the organisation of the Training Centre database. He also gave a short interview, sharing his testimony as a long-term donor of the Shelter and offering his congratulations as we approach our 25th anniversary.

We are deeply grateful to Klaus for his long-standing support and friendship. Visits like this remind us how important and meaningful the commitment of our donors and supporters is to the life of our community. It was truly a joy to welcome him back to Bienvenu.
